HON. AKUYAM CHAMPION LEGISLATIVE LEADERSHIP AND DEVELOPMENT CONTINUITY IN BAUCHI.

Alh. Nuru Abdullahi (Baban Zarah)

In a powerful reflection on governance, experience, and continuity, Hon. Mohamed Babayo Akuyam has positioned legislative leadership as a critical driver of Bauchi State’s ongoing transformation, emphasizing the importance of consistency in policy direction and institutional strength.

Rather than focusing solely on political endorsement, the lawmaker highlighted the deeper architecture of governance—where strategic collaboration between the executive and legislature ensures sustainable progress.

Hon. Akuyam, who represents Akuyam Constituency in the Bauchi State House of Assembly, underscored that true development is not defined by immediate applause but by long-term impact, resilience, and the ability of policies to stand the test of time.

Drawing from his vast experience as a former Speaker and one of the most senior legislators in the Assembly, he stressed that effective governance requires both vision and continuity. According to him, Bauchi State’s development story is a cumulative effort built across administrations, where each government strengthens the foundation laid by its predecessor.

He pointed out that the current phase of governance in the state reflects a maturity of leadership—one that prioritizes institutional growth, policy stability, and inclusive development rather than short-term political gains.

Hon. Akuyam further emphasized the strategic role of the legislature in shaping this trajectory, noting that beyond lawmaking, the Assembly serves as a guardian of standards, accountability, and long-term planning. He revealed that his experience has often placed him in a mentorship position, guiding newer lawmakers through the complexities of governance and public responsibility.

On sectoral development, the lawmaker drew attention to key interventions that reflect a forward-looking agenda. He highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen education through regulatory reforms, improved funding structures, and enhanced oversight mechanisms designed to restore credibility and raise standards across institutions.

He also spoke on economic diversification, particularly the push to equip young people with relevant skills for emerging industries. Initiatives such as specialized training institutions, he explained, are aimed at positioning Bauchi as a competitive player in sectors with high growth potential.

Reflecting on the broader development journey, Hon. Akuyam noted that Bauchi’s progress is rooted in a culture of building upon existing achievements rather than discarding them. He described this approach as essential for maintaining momentum and avoiding policy disruptions that often hinder development in emerging economies.

In his words, the future of Bauchi State lies in disciplined leadership, strategic patience, and unwavering commitment to the collective good.

He concluded by expressing confidence that with sustained collaboration, sound policies, and experienced leadership, Bauchi State is firmly on a path toward long-term prosperity and institutional excellence

Reinvigorating Governance: Bauchi Strengthens Administrative Backbone with Strategic Appointments.

Alh.Nuru Abdullahi (Baban Zarah)

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has ushered in a new wave of leadership within the state’s civil service by inaugurating 17 Permanent Secretaries.

Rather than merely filling vacant positions, the development signals a broader institutional recalibration aimed at improving policy execution and administrative coherence across government structures. The swearing-in ceremony, held at the Government House in Bauchi, underscored a deliberate effort to reposition the civil service as a dynamic engine of governance.

Governor Mohammed framed the appointments as part of a sustained reform agenda that prioritizes competence, accountability, and continuity in public administration. By strengthening leadership at the bureaucratic level, the government seeks to eliminate operational bottlenecks and ensure that policies are translated into tangible outcomes for citizens.

The newly appointed Permanent Secretaries step into their roles at a critical juncture, following the exit of their predecessors who concluded their service in line with statutory requirements. Their emergence reflects a competitive and performance-driven selection system designed to identify capable administrators equipped to navigate the complexities of modern governance.

While maintaining that the process was largely merit-based, the governor acknowledged making careful adjustments to accommodate deserving officers whose contributions had previously gone unrecognized—an intervention he described as both just and necessary for institutional balance.

Beyond the ceremony, the real task begins. These senior officials are now entrusted with the responsibility of driving reforms from within, aligning ministerial operations with the administration’s vision, and safeguarding public trust through transparent and efficient service delivery.

Complementing the appointments, the Office of the Head of Service has strategically deployed the new Permanent Secretaries across key ministries and agencies. This calculated redistribution is intended to inject fresh perspectives, enhance interdepartmental synergy, and accelerate the pace of governance.

Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, Alhaji Sabi’u Barau Ningi expressed deep appreciation for the confidence reposed in them, pledging a renewed commitment to excellence and public service. For the appointees, the moment marks not just a career milestone, but the beginning of a demanding chapter defined by higher expectations and greater accountability.

In essence, the appointments represent more than administrative routine—they reflect a conscious effort to reshape the civil service into a more responsive, effective, and future-ready institution capable of meeting the evolving needs of Bauchi State.

Bauchi PDP Lawmakers Dismiss Terrorism Sponsorship Allegations Against Governor Bala Mohammed.

Alh. Nuru Abdullahi (Baban Zarah)

Members of the House of Representatives from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi State have unanimously reaffirmed their unwavering loyalty and support for Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, strongly dismissing allegations linking him to the sponsorship of terrorist activities as false, baseless, and malicious.

In a joint press statement issued in Bauchi, the lawmakers stressed that although the matter is currently before a court of law, it is important to remind Nigerians of Governor Bala Mohammed’s consistent and commendable record in promoting security, peace, and sustainable development since assuming office.

“It is imperative to emphasize Governor Bala Mohammed’s proven track record as a leader who prioritizes security, public safety, and the overall development of Bauchi State at all times,” the statement said.

The statement was jointly signed by seven PDP federal lawmakers from Bauchi State, namely:

Hon. Aliyu Aminu Garu (Bauchi)
Hon. Mansur Manu Soro (Darazo/Ganjuwa)
Hon. Auwalu Gwalabe (Katagum)
Hon. Adamu Hashimu Ranga (Ningi/Warji)
Hon. Mohammed Dan Abba Shehu (Zaki)
Hon. Bappa Aliyu Misau (Misau/Dambam)
Hon. Sani Ibrahim Tanko (Shira/Giade)

The lawmakers noted that over the past six years, Governor Bala Mohammed’s administration has significantly reduced incidents of armed banditry in Bauchi State, despite the security challenges posed by the state’s proximity to troubled states such as Zamfara and Katsina.

They further observed that while insecurity has forced mass displacement of citizens in parts of the North-West, Bauchi State has remained largely peaceful and has served as a safe haven for displaced persons—an achievement they attributed to visionary leadership and effective collaboration with security agencies.

The lawmakers also highlighted that although Bauchi is located in the North-East geopolitical zone, the state has remained free from Boko Haram insurgency throughout Governor Bala Mohammed’s tenure.

“This achievement is the result of deliberate policies, strong synergy with security agencies, and the governor’s firm resolve to deny terrorists and criminal elements any foothold in Bauchi State,” the statement added.

Describing the allegations linking the governor to terrorism financing as “illogical and unfounded,” the lawmakers maintained that such claims are completely at odds with the visible reality of peace and security enjoyed by residents of the state.

“A governor who has consistently denied terrorists space, safeguarded lives and property, and sustained peace across the state cannot, by any stretch of imagination, be labeled a sponsor of terrorism,” they stated.

Beyond security, the lawmakers highlighted notable achievements of the Bala Mohammed administration in infrastructure development, education, healthcare, agriculture, and social welfare, stressing that these accomplishments far outweigh any politically motivated distractions.

In conclusion, the PDP lawmakers urged Nigerians to remain calm, respect the rule of law, and allow justice to take its course through the appropriate legal channels.

“We are fully confident that Governor Bala Mohammed’s integrity, proven leadership record, and selfless service to Bauchi State will ultimately be vindicated,” the statement concluded.
